10:00am- Brenda Halloran, Mayor of the City of Waterloo, Re: Halloran has announced she will not seek reelection in 2014.
She says it was a very difficult and personal decision and that she accomplished her goal of serving two terms as Mayor of Waterloo. Halloran thinks it’s time for a new challenge.
10:30am- Allison Thornton, Lawyer for the Canadian Civil Liberties Assocation, Re: Thornton appeared at the Ashley Smith prison-death inquest on behalf of the CCLA. She wants Smith’s death ruled a homicide, the jurors in Toronto are expected to issue a verdict around 11:30am on the 19-year old’s treatment at the Grand Valley for Women in Kitchener.
10:45am- Stephanie Krug, Lawyer, Re: Krug represented Ashley Smith in a Kitchener courtroom shortly before the tragic events of October 19th, 2007.
