Rangers win one of three on weekend

The Kitchener Rangers picked up two of a possible six points over the weekend.

The team played three games in three nights, two of which were on the road. On Saturday night the Rangers handed a 5-1 loss to the Spirit in Saginaw. Darby Llewellyn scored two goals and added an assist in the win. Llewellyn leads the team with 18 goals on the season, 12 of which have come in the past 13 games.

The losses came on Friday night, a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the visiting Owen Sound Attack and on Sunday afternoon, a 5-1 surrender at the Essar Centre in Sault Ste. Marie to the Greyhounds.

Up next for the Rangers is another meeting with the Greyhounds next Friday Dec 20th at home. It’s a game that veteran forward Matia Marcantuoni hopes to make his return from an ongoing shoulder injury. It will also be their final game before the Christmas break. The team will then play back to back games against the league leading Erie Otters.

The Rangers currently sit in 9th place in the Western Conference with 25 points.
