Jump Start program helps Regional children join in

The Canadian Tire Jump Start Program is helping out Tuesday’s Teddy Bear Toss at the Kitchener Aud for the Kitchener Rangers’ home game against the London Knights.

There will be 33 volunteers on hand with 4 000 bears cued up, in case anyone forgot their teddy at home.

Associate Dealer for Canadian Tire on Ira Needles Blvd, Justin Young, told 570’s Gary Doyle Show that 1 in 3 children in Waterloo region can’t afford to take part in sports teams or other activities.

Young says the Jump Start Program deals with 8 community parnters, including the YMCA and sponsoring and funnelling money into the cities of Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge, sponsoring 95-hundred kids in the region.

This past weekend the program eclipsed the one million dollar mark being raised since 2005.

He adds that there is no overhead costs as Canadian Tire corporation foots any bills, meaning 100% of the funds raised go straight to the kids in need.
