Fergus native named OHL player of the week

Fergus native and Carolina Hurricanes prospect Brock McGinn of the Guelph Storm has been named the OHL player of the week (Oct. 21 – Oct. 27).
The 19 year-old veteran playing in his fourth OHL season scored five goals, added three helpers and had a plus-minus rating of plus 3 over the last three games.
McGinn’s appointment as the player of the week follows teammate Scott Kosmuchuck (Oct. 14 – Oct. 20) as the second straight Storm forward to earn the honour. The two forwards have helped the Storm win seven straight games.
McGinn was selected in the second round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and is currently tied with Kosmuchuck for fifth in the OHL point race.
The Storm travel to Peterborough for a tilt against the Petes on Wednesday before returning home to the Sleeman Centre this Friday when the Kitchener Rangers roll into the Royal City.
The Rangers have lost four straight and seven of the last eight games.
