Pedestrians charged.

Waterloo Regional police laid a number of charges during their pedestrian safety initiative.

207 charges were handed out – 120 of those to pedestrians and 87 to motorists. Among the charges, 62 to pedestrians disobeying the don’t walk signal.
Meanwhile to the motorists, regional police charged 20 with driving while operating a hand held device.
Regional police say stats show that out of 11 fatal vehicle crashes in 2012, 6 resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
Another initiative like this will take place in November.
