2:00- Candice Malcolm, Ontario Director, Canadian Taxpayers Federation, Re: Tim Hudak believes that the Liberals should phase in a higher retirement age for public sector workers and change the defined benefit plans to a contribution pension plan. The PC’s also would like to see a pooled pension for private sector workers who don’t have a pension. This would not require the employers to make any contributions to it. Hudak also believes that the gap between what’s been promised and what’s available under the defined benefit plans keeps getting wider.
2:30- Melodie Tilson, Policy Director with the Non-Smokers’ Rights Association, Re: A new hiring trend among North American employers is signaling smokers to butt out or stay out. An increasing number of businesses stipulate “non-smokers only” on their job postings.
