Prices at the pumps expected to soar overnight

If your gas gage is looking low, you will want to fill up at some point today. Prices are expected to jump at the pumps by more than 4 cents a litre when the clock strikes 12:01 tonight.

570News gas price expert Roger McKnight, from En-Pro, says residents in Waterloo Region can expect to see prices locally at almost $1.40 a litre. Wholesale prices in the U.S. have increased and McKnight says stay-cations may be the word of the summer because he doesn’t expect these prices to drop anytime soon, “Normally prices would drop at the end of May. Can’t see that happening this year, it’s going to stick right through to the end of July.”

McKnight says putting 10 or 20 dollars in the tank, hoping the price will drop in a few days, isn’t going to work this time around.
