Oktoberfest hacked

The OPP is tracking a party that hacked into the KW Oktoberfest website, leading the organization to take steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
“From our perspective, it’s not a game. I think they think it is.”
Executive Director of Oktoberfest, Mark Kreller told 570 News, the hackers made away with about 600 names, email addresses, and IP addresses, “there was at no time any risk to any personal information, or credit card information, anything like that. They actually were no able to hack into our databases of any sort what-so-ever.”
Kreller says the hackers placed a malicious line of code in one of the text boxes in a “Contact Us” form, which then caused it to open and show the data it stored, “I guess it wasn’t as securely crafted as it should have been.”
Kreller says a web team is working to secure the site, the logs have been deleted and that going forward Oktoberfest will routinely delete the information before a log is built up, “we’re doing a complete sweep of all forms on our site, and performing an audit to make sure there are no other forms that are susceptible to this kind of process.”
