Wind Warning issued for Waterloo Region

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Waterloo Region and other areas of the Southern Ontario.

Very strong southwest winds are expected Friday night through Saturday in the wake of a cold front.

Parts of southern Ontario are in for weather that is more typical for April, with a risk of thunderstorms.

Wind gusts are forecast to reach 90 kilometers an hour — strong enough to snap tree branches, which could cause localized power outages.

Environment Canada says this storm will strengthen significantly as it tracks towards us.

There is a risk of thunderstorms in southern Ontario while snow is in the forecast for parts of central Ontario.

Environment Canada has also issued a blowing snow warning for Mount Forest, Arthur, and Northern Wellington County. Blowing snow, coupled with falling snow could reduce visibility and create dangerous driving conditions.
