It’s one of the best times of the year for junior hockey.
The 2012 World Junior Championship opens today in Calgary and Edmonton.
Canada will face Finland in the Alberta capital, with the pre-game show at 3pm on 570 News.
Team Canada features Tanner Pearson and Mark Scheifele, both Kitchener natives, who play for the Barrie Colts.
“It’s going to be unbelievable to put on the Canada jersey.” said Pearson.
Patrick King is the CHL columnist for Sportsnet.
He tells 570 News one player to watch is Ottawa Senators prospect Mark Stone.
“What I like about him is if he’s not producing, he’s still going to be effective.” said King.
King thinks Canada will probably playing for gold again.
The Canadians lost the 2011 final to the Russians.
