Cambridge Murder

Police say that they are trying to figure out the details that lead to the death of 22 year old Joseph Batten of Cambridge yesterday.

They say that Batten was at an event at the Masonic Temple on Groh Avenue in Cambridge.

After police received the call shortly before 2 in the morning, they found Batten suffering from injuries as a direct result of an altercation. He was taken to Cambridge Memorial Hospital but died a short time later.

Police say that a post mortem was conducted Saturday afternoon, but so far have not released the cause of death.

Investigators are looking to speak with two white males, one black male and two white females who appeared to be in their late teens to early twenties and were seen leaving in a darker coloured vehicle.

The investigation continues and police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Homicide Branch at 519-650-8500 ext. 8642.
