C.difficile over

Grand River Hospital in conjunction with Waterloo Region Public Health has declared the outbreak of C. difficile in Union Terrace Four unit at the Freeport Site – over.

Dr. William Ciccotelli, medical director of infectious diseases confirms that no new cases of C.difficile have been reported and patients that were affected by the outbreak are recovering.

Ciccotelli also adds that staff maintained their high standard of hand hygiene and patient isolation practices, and along with
aggressive cleaning helped to stop the further spread of the bacteria
