RIM’s BBX is now BlackBerry 10

Research in Motion has renamed their new operating system.
This comes after a US federal court ruling that stopped the BlackBerry maker from using the BBX name at a conference in Singapore.
Software company Basis International Ltd. had registered and used the BBX trademark for 26 years.
The highly anticipated new operating system will now be called BlackBerry 10.
Tech-analyst Carmi Levy told 570 News, renaming the less than 2 month old brand isn’t going to matter to consumers, “what matters is; once it’s in their hands it needs to do what they want it to do and it needs to do it as well as and ideally even better than competing devices from Apple and Google.”
Levy said RIM is making a “smart move,” in avoiding a long drawn out trademark battle and to focus all of its resources on the upcoming launch of the next generation smartphones.
Levy said there is precedence set in the smartphone market for companies to change the name of their operating system, pointing to Apple’s iOS, which was once known as iPhone OS.
