20 arrests after 2 drug busts in Guelph

Guelph Police have arrested 20 people in two separate drug busts.

They say High School Resource Officers arrested 7 students for the possession of marihuana yesterday at area high schools. The students ranged in age between 14 and 18 years. A small quantity of marihuana and drug paraphernalia was also seized. Police say all of the students were dealt with by diversion and school suspensions.

Also yesterday, the Guelph Police Service Coordinated Enforcement Team and Drug & Intelligence Unit searched two residences one on Clairfields Dr. and another on Doyle Dr. In total police seized over 16 pounds of pot in addition to a number of weapons, imitation firearms and drug paraphernalia. 13 people were arrested in that raid, including one youth. Guelph Police say nine adults face various charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking in a Controlled Substance. Several bail hearings have been scheduled for later today.
