Cutting down on the daily commute

There’s a call for the federal government to invest in a new infrastructure plan aimed at speeding up the daily trip to work.

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities will appear before the Commons Finance committee today urging it to develop a longterm infrastructure plan; one that charts a course for 15 to 20 years down the road.

The Federation is headed by Kitchener City Councillor Berry Vrbanovic.

The average commute time in Canadian cities right now is 26 minutes. However, in the city of Toronto – it swells to an hour and twenty minutes.

The average commute time in such large cities as New York and Los Angeles is actually less than it is in Toronto.
