Road improvements coming to busy portion of Sawmill Road

Paved shoulders, upgraded guiderails and more are set to be installed on a portion of Sawmill Road in Woolwich Township this fall.

Starting this week, construction crews are set to be out on Sawmill between Snyder’s Flats Road and Katherine Street/Crowsfoot Road in the Bloomingdale area.

The Region of Waterloo said the work, which will also see the road resurfaced, will extend to late October.

“During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane. A short-term road closure of approximately three days will also be required for surface paving,” said a notice.

It’s not clear when that three-day closure will be, but the region said it would provide more details closer to the date of the closure.

Residents will still be able to access businesses in the area during construction.

The work on Sawmill Road is part of the Region of Waterloo’s roads and infrastructure plan for 2026.
