The “Wishmaker Walk for Wishes” is taking place from coast to coast today, including in Kitchener.
It’s in support of The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
Area Foundation coordinator Anne Boehm tells 570 News “it is a celebration of our incredibly special and very brave Wish children and their families.”
Money raised goes towards making the wishes of sick children come true.
She says popular wishes include everything from a trip to Disney or meeting a celebrity to something as simple as constructing a backyard playground.
Boehm says she has the honour of delivering the wish packages to the families and she calls the experience “amazing.” She says to see the look on their faces “is something you just can’t describe.”
Boehm expects upwards of 400 participants with hopes of raising up to $25,000.
Today’s event is the sixth annual locally and is taking place at the Kiwanis Arena at The Aud.
Registration is at 10, the walks starts at 11 and a celebration lunch will take place at noon.
