Scammers target local businesses

Regional Police are warning store owners of a new scam going around.

They say there has been a series of so-called quick change thefts at various businesses around the region.

According to police, during these incidents, a male suspect makes a small purchase with a large bill. After receiving his change he asks to change some smaller bills with larger ones while a second suspect distracts the cashier.

While the second person has changed, the primary suspect remains the same. He is described as a white male in his 40’s or 50’s, 5’8-6’0, medium to larger build with grayish hair under a dark ball cap.
