It was a day to remember the victims at all three locations of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.
At ground zero, U-S President Barack Obama and his predecessor, George W. Bush, joined grieving families at the new memorial in the footprints of the World Trade Center’s twin towers.
Obama then travelled to Shanksville, Pennsylvania for a memorial service, and to Washington for a memorial concert last night.
He said the past decade since terrorists struck tell “a story of resilience.”
Much the same as it did 10 years ago, the sports world helped a grieving nation recover yesterday as well. Michael Grange filed this story for Sportsnet.ca and this report from the field at the Jets/Cowboys game on Sunday night.
Canadians marked the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 attacks with ceremonies and events across the country.
Prime Minister Harper and relatives of the 24 Canadians killed on 9-11 gathered for a memorial in New York City’s Hanover Square.
Harper said in the shadow of the evil of 9-11, we must not forget our capacity for goodness.
The names of Canadian victims will be included at a memorial in New York that honours the victims from the United Kingdom.
Harper called the British gesture “gracious.”
