As classes get underway again tomorrow a program called the Futures Forum will begin its second year in many of the region’s public high schools.
It runs during second semester in most schools and combines English, Careers and Civics. The class spends two periods a day with one teacher.
Preston High School Principal Bill Lemon tells 570 News, when designing the program, they looked at how to integrate technology and social media in a way that helped meet the course outcomes.
“We were able to find things that really did the job that we needed to and they were also environments that kids were comfortable with…Students were able to produce the quality of work that they wanted to and they were able to do what they wanted to in order to meet the curricular goals,” Lemon says.
He says students have used some blogging as part of the program and they’ve also done an online magazine project.
