Dry July

It was a hot and dry July in the region. The seventh driest and the sixth warmest since records began in 1917.
University of Waterloo Weather Station Coordinator Frank Seglenieks tells 570 News we saw 22.3 Millimetres of precipitation, “it’s very common to get that much precipitation in a single day, in a single storm during the summer time. It just seemed like all of the storms in Southern Ontario that were popping up everywhere just seemed to miss the Kitchener-Waterloo area. They’d get some in London, they’d get some in Toronto and it just seemed like we were never in the target”.
July recorded almost 2 & 1/2 degrees warmer than average, Seglenieks telling 570 News that it was the sixth warmest July in history, “you have to go back to 1955 when you find a warmer July. Our daytime high averaged about 29.4 degrees and back in 1955 it was a scorching 32.2 degrees”.
Seglenieks adds August should be closer to average and expects it to be wetter than July.
