Kitchener City Councillor Berry Vrbanovic has been elected President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Vrbanovic becomes the first representative from Waterloo region to lead the FCM.

In a statement Vrbanovic says he is looking forward to ensuring the municipal issues that matter most to local residents remain at the top of the national agenda.

Vrbanovic was unchallenged for the position, and formally takes the reins following FCM’s annual general meeting on Sunday morning.
