About 1,500 Kitchener residents were in the dark this morning after a vehicle crashed into a hydro pole.
The incident happened on Victoria Street at Bruce Street at 5:00 o’clock.
A mini-van traveling eastbound on Victoria hit the centre median, knocked over the centre traffic lights and street sign, clipped another car, and then crashed into the hydro pole.
Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro says a repair crew will look after the poll, and in the meantime, they will switch and reroute power as soon as possible.
People living east of River Street should see their lights back on by 7:00 o’clock.
People west of River, and between Victoria and Krug, can expect their power back around 9:30.
Police closed Victoria Street from Bruce Street to River Street while they look into what happened with this crash.
Police say the driver involved was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
