Oh-no Canada?!

Hockey fans in Vancouver and Montreal – as well as the rest of the country – are in full panic mode, as tonight could be the night that both of the remaining Canadian NHL teams are eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Only two Canadian teams (Montreal Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks) even made it into the post-season dance this year and both face first-round elimination tonight.
The problem is – we Canadians have been forced to get used to it over the past 20 or so years. No Canadian team has won the Cup since 1993 when the Montreal Canadiens beat the Los Angeles Kings. Since then, Canadian teams have only even reached the Stanley Cup final 4 times (Vancouver in ’94, Calgary in ’04, Edmonton in ’05 and Ottawa in ’06).
However, In the 10 previous seasons (from 1984 to 1993) Canadian teams won the Stanley Cup 8 times in those 10 years.
Tonight – Canadian hockey fans could be headed for yet another off-season of disappointment.
In the early game, Montreal will entertain Boston with the Bruins leading 3-games-to-2. The Habs won the first two games of the series but have since lost three straight to trail the series.
Later tonight a collapse of epic proportions is possible as Vancouver plays host to the defending Stanley Cup Champions from Chicago with that series tied at 3-3.
It’s only tied at 3 because after racing out to a 3-games to none lead in the series – they too have lost 3 in a row and face a winner take all Game 7 scenario tonight.
A loss by the Canucks tonight would be especially painful because they finished the regular season with the NHL’s best record by far.
