Cans are building blocks for fundraiser

Teams of architects, engineers, designers and students will once again build amazing structures out of 34-thousand cans of food.

Teams will set up at Conestoga Mall and begin building their structures during store hours on Saturday as part of ‘Canstruction’.

Teams will also build through the night in order to have their designs ready for judging Sunday morning. People can vote for their favourite structure by donating a food item.

Wendy Campbell is the Executive Director of the Food Bank for Waterloo Region. She says the event is a great way to raise food and awareness.

All food is then donated to the food bank — so the teams have to be careful not to damage the cans and boxes.

The event is in it’s fourth year.
