Icy drive and problems on 401

Freezing rain and generally icy conditions wreaked havoc on the 401 at the height of the morning rush hour.
Several traffic collisions were reported to our newsroom, including multiple reports of tractor-trailers into the medians and ditches along the highway.
At one point, a tractor-trailer crash shut down the Cedar Creek on-ramp to the 401 westbound.
Another tractor-trailer crash closed the Highway 401, around 8:45 a.m., eastbound and westbound from Currie Road to Graham Road.
The worst hit areas of the highway were west of the Region to London.
