Car hits train

A Petersburg man has been airlifted to hospital after the car he was driving struck a train west of New Hamburg.
Perth County OPP say the vehicle was crossing the railway tracks near Highway 7/8 just past the Waterloo Region boundary line when it was struck by the train.
The engine of the train struck the car in the front driver’s side corner.
The victim, a man in his early 30’s, suffered serious injuries and was taken by helicopter to a London hospital.
