Housing starts drop

A significant drop in housing starts in Waterloo Region last month.
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says the foundation was poured for 107 homes in November, down from 273 in the same month in 2009.
CMHC say lower starts for single-detached homes was the key contributer to the decline: down to 48 units from 174.
The agency says starts were down right across the Region.
Still, on a year-to-date basis starts were higher.
In the January-November period of this year, construction began on 2,579 homes – up from 2,104 units or 23% from the same period last year.
