A University of Waterloo professor has won Canada’s Premier Young Researcher Award.
Dr. David Hammond, Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Studies and Gerontology was presented the award by his former boss Governor General David Johnston at a ceremony last night.
Dr. Hammond was recognized for his influential research on how the tobacco industry designs its cigarette labels to recruit new smokers, and how that same packaging can be used to discourage people from smoking.
His other research focus is product testing and regulation.
