New contract for Regional Police

Waterloo Regional Police have ratified a contract that includes a 5.45 per cent raise over two years for officers and civilians.
The police services board supported the new collective agreement this morning.
Chair Tom Galloway calls it a fair settlement, in line with other police services.
The wage hike will affect almost 1,000 employees and will take effect in phases. The collective agreement covers the period between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2011.
The raises come at a time when Premier Dalton McGuinty is calling for public sector wage freezes.
