Recount for Kitchener Ward 9

A unanimous vote at Kitchener City Council cleared the way for a recount in Ward 9.
The request was made by Debbie Chapman who lost the seat by one vote to Frank Etherington.
The ballots will be counted again on Wednesday.
Following the vote, Councillor Berry Vrbanovic put forward a motion that was passed to look at the idea of having those types of decisions lie outside of council.
Etherington says he did not oppose the recount but objected to having Councillor Christina Weylie take part in the vote on the recount due to her backing Chapman during the campaign.
Weylie voted in favour of the recount.
Council held a special meeting on Thursday afternoon.
