Inflation rate slightly up

Statistics Canada says the country’s annual inflation rate rose two-tenths of a point to 1.9 per cent in September as the cost for energy and cars picked up.
On a monthly basis, overall prices increased by 0.2 per cent in real terms from August to September.
The agency says energy was a key contributor with a 5.6 per cent jump from last year, but the cost of buying an automobile also rose sharply at five per cent.
Food saw a significant increase in September, advancing 2.1 per cent.
Statistics Canada says prices rose in every province in Canada, with Ontario’s 2.9 per cent rate still ranking the highest in the country.
