Search for robbery suspect keeps students indoors

Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest after an attempted bank robbery in Kitchener today.
Police were called to the National Bank on Fischer Hallman Road at around 10:40 this morning.
Spokesperson Olaf Heinzel says a lone male entered the bank with a weapon and later fled in a vehicle.
The emergency response team conducted a vehicle stop in the area to try to catch the suspect.
He was arrested in the Westwood Drive area about two hours after the attempted robbery.
Students at nearby Monsignor Gleason Elementary School were put in a hold and secure position and kept inside the building for almost an hour as police searched for the suspect.
Charges have not been laid yet.
