A special guest

Shepard Public School in Kitchener had a special guest yesterday.

Terry Fox’s brother Fred, spoke with students a day ahead of the school’s run in honour of the Canadian icon today.

Teacher Anna Lucas says Fox talked to students about hope and determination and continuing the great work that began with Terry’s Marathon of Hope.

She says they were inspired to hear a first hand account of Terry’s struggle and the good and bad times.

The students will be running a loop around school property as much as they can during one hour starting at 1:45.

Perhaps the best news for the students comes if they raise more money this year than they did last year.  If that occurs – their teachers end up in the dunk tank.

Many schools are expected to hold their Terry Fox runs today.
