Terror suspect appears in court

Amid reports a fourth suspect is under arrest, the third suspect charged in an alleged home-grown terrorist conspiracy was in court today in Ottawa.
Khurram Syed Sher of London is charged with conspiracy to facilitate terrorist activity.
The Mounties won’t confirm reports a fourth person has been arrested in the investigation.
A spokesman would only say “something happened this morning” and that they are in the process of gathering the information from their teams.
Police allege the suspects were about to send money to terrorists in Afghanistan.
They were afraid the money would be used to buy weapons to be used against coalition and Canadian troops.
Investigators had been monitoring events for months and said an attack was likely months away.
Canada’s public safety minister says the case unfolding in Ottawa is proof that homegrown terrorism is an emerging problem.
Vic Toews says while many people think terrorists only live overseas, there are worries that some people in Canada are becoming more radical.
He says the Internet means people can research and chat in the most remote locations.
Toews says he is seeking the co-operation of community leaders to report troubling signs of people who become radicals.
