Still stuck in Cuba

TORONTO – A Canadian man stuck in Cuba for the past three months has had his hopes of finally coming home this week shattered.
Cody LeCompte of Simcoe, Ontario, has been unable to leave Cuba since a car accident in late April.
Last week, Cuban police agreed to let his family post bail for the equivalent of about 100 Canadians dollars, on the condition Cody return to Cuba for a trial.
That done, LeCompte had been preparing to fly home today.
But last night, he was told a restriction on his passport had still not been lifted, and there was no still indication when it might be.
Cody’s uncle, Gary Parmenter, told The Canadian Press that his nephew was “crushed” by the news.
Since the accident, LeCompte and his mother have stayed at a beachside resort, and it has cost the family more than 30-thousand dollars so far.
Cody was not found to be at fault in the accident and Ottawa has warned Cuba the incident could cause some Canadians to rethink plans to vacation there.
