The 35th Cambridge Highland Games will take place at Churchill Park this weekend.
The games officially began on Friday night with a Ceilidh party at the United Kingdom Club.
Admission to the club is 15 dollars, which includes pie, mushy pees and a beer.
Those who attend can expect to see performances by highland dancers as well as performances by Celtic bands.
On Saturday morning the games begin at 8 a.m with highland dancers beginning competition. The individual bagpipe competitions will also start around 8 a.m.
Just before noon, Former Cambridge Coun. and this years chieftain of the games, Ted Fairless will participate in the welcoming ceremonies.
During the afternoon, dance and bagpipe competitions and tug-of-war will continue from the morning. Traditional “heavy events” will take place including shotput, hammer throw and the caber toss.
Several vendors will be at the games providing Scottish foods and a beer tent will be open during Saturday’s events.
The Highland Games will come to an end with a performance by a massed pipe band display and award ceremonies for the competitions.
The admission for Saturday’s games is 10 dollars in advance or 13 dollars at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at:
