Players ask university to reconsider

University of Waterloo football players have given the school’s board of governors 24 hours to reconsider their decision to suspend the football program for one year.
Today’s 1 o’clock deadline was issued during an afternoon news conference on Thursday that was carried live on 570 News.
Players are asking the school to put the team on probation instead of suspending the program because nine players may have broken anti-doping rules.
Recruit Alex Cowle says he had opportunities to play ball at other schools but he turned them down a few weeks ago and now he might not get the chance to play in his first year.
The school has not commented.
About 200 people attended the news conference and rally, including university athletes from other sports, who say they came out to show their support.
