Kitchener pilot prepares for air show

The Snowbirds, a Mig and the Harvard are just a few of the planes you’ll see at this weekend’s air show at the Region of Waterloo International Airport. Wayne Hadath will also be performing in his F1 Rocket. The pilot from Kitchener built the plane himself and says it’s the only F1 Rocket ever built from a parts kit. Hadath tells 570 News he always had an interest in aviation and had known for quite some time that he would build a plane in his retirement. He didn’t know it would be the F1 Rocket but he’s proud of the “underweight, overpowered” plane he has built. Hadath says the F1 Rocket has a top speed of 250 miles per hour “straight and level” while it can do about 275 mph in a dive. The highly manoeuvreable plane pulls 6 Gs and Hadath calls it “a little rock n’ roller.” Hadath’s show on the weekend will include a pass over the runway at 275 miles per hour, pull ups and a few other stunts that are “just basically showing off and goofing off.” For details on this weekend’s air show, or to buy tickets, just visit www.waterlooairshow.ca
