Ikea blinds recall

Ikea Canada is voluntarily recalling more than 1.5 million blinds, saying the window coverings could cause strangulation.

The recall covers all roman, roller and roll-up blinds sold over the past several years.

An Ikea spokesperson says the blinds can cause strangulation if the installation instructions are not followed properly.

A similar recall, affecting more than three million blinds, was issued across the United States after a toddler was nearly strangled by the cord.

There have been no reports of injuries or death in Canada.
