Regional Council will get a look at what the Ministry of Transportation has in mind for the 7/8 Highway on Tuesday.
The MTO will make a presentation at the 9 a.m. Planning and Works Committee meeting, to talk about what they plan to do to improve the highway from roughly Fischer Hallman to Courtland.
The plans include widening the highway to six lanes beyond Fischer Hallman, new high-mast lighting, and better sound barrier walls.
A new on-ramp from Fischer Hallman northbound to the eastbound 7/8 will eliminate the need for the current left turn from that road to get onto the highway.
But the MTO will not link the on-ramp to the eastbound highway from southbound Homer Watson to a new access at Ottawa and Alpine.
The Region wanted such a link, which would have doubled the access to the highway from Ottawa Street.
But the MTO only plans to make touch-up improvements to the existing ramp.
The project will start about one kilometre west of Fischer Hallman, work its way to about a kilometre east of Courtland, and should take about three years to complete.
