Iceland volcano eruption gains strength

Frustrated passengers stranded by a volcano in Iceland won’t be getting much relief. Hopes that London’s airport would reopen this morning have been dashed.
A British aviation agency says the volcanic eruption has strengthened and is sending a new ash cloud toward Britain.
That means that while airspace over some parts of England may reopen later today, the open zone for flights may not extend as far south as London — where England’s main airports lie. Despite news of the new ash cloud, some airspace over continental Europe is opening up.
Air Canada resumed flights last night to Paris, Geneva, Zurich, Tel Aviv and Rome — though it still isn’t flying to London, Frankfurt or Munich.
