Stratford flood lawsuit settled

A class action lawsuit, filed against the City of Stratford, in the wake of a major flood eight years ago, has been settled.  
It will see some 800 residents share in 7.7-million-dollars for losses they suffered when a major storm in July 2002 resulted in a massive back up of sewers.
However, CTV reports, it remains to be seen how much residents will actually receive, once legal fees are covered and insurance companies collect their share.  
Stratford city council approved the deal this week.

The payout is not covered by insurance, meaning it will have to come from water rates.
More than half that money has already been set aside.
