St. Patty’s clean up

Non-students living in Waterloo’s universities district report a kinder, gentler student blow-out for St. Patrick’s Day this time around.

While Northdale area residents do say there students on rooftops or blocking roadways, all around, things were improved this year.

A neighbourhood daycare reports they did not have to bring the toddlers in from the playground due to drunk student revellers, unlike 2009.

Others appreciate what they feel was an increased police presence in the neighbourhood.

Police laid some 90 charges, most were liquor related.

Waterloo by-law officers issued seven notices for noise and nuisance-type offences, which officials say was down from last year.
