Saints march their way to first Super Bowl win

Mardi Gras kicks off next week in New Orleans, but the party there has already begun.
The New Orleans Saints marched their way to their very first Super Bowl win last night, knocking off the favoured Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in Miami.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees was chosen the game’s M.V.P. after tying a Super Bowl record with 32 completions.
His last completion was a two-yard slant to Jeremy Shockey for the go-ahead touchdown with 5:42 remaining.
Louisiana native Tracy Porter dashed any hopes of a Colts comeback.
He picked off a Peyton Manning pass and returned it 74 yards for a touchdown to give the Saints a 14-point lead.
Garrett Hartley booted three field goals for the Saints, and he set the tone for the second half when New Orleans recovered an onside kick.
The Colts’ defence had its moments in the first half, when it stopped the Saints on third and fourth down on the one-yard-line.
The championship comes four-and-a-half years after “Hurricane Katrina” ravaged New Orleans, making the Saints nomads for the 2005 season.
