A Waterloo resident made a shocking discovery after purchasing a box of Aqua-Star Garlic and Herb Shrimp from a local Giant Tiger store in mid-January.
Written on the inside cover of the sealed package were the words, “God bless you…God bless me…and God bless all family.”
The resident says they didn’t eat the contents of the box for fear the shrimp had been tampered with, but after an investigation by the company, Aqua-Star Canada, it was determined a packer at its plant in Seattle had used the box to practice writing English and it was never meant to go into the production line.
Still, the religious message spooked the resident who contacted the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and says they’ll never buy another Aqua-Star product.
Quality Inspection Manager for Aqua-Star Canada, Don Languille, tells 570 News it’s the first time something like this has ever happened and they are letting all packers know such actions will not be tolerated in the future. Languille also says random inspections of products will be increased.
