College teachers can vote on final offer

Teachers at Ontario’s community colleges will be able to have their say on a final offer from management.

The colleges have asked the Ontario Labour Relations Board to prepare and set a date for the vote.

The request by the colleges follows Monday’s decision by the union to set a strike date for next Thursday.

OPSUE says it is prepared to move its strike deadline if it can be arranged on or before February 12th.

The latest offer includes a 5.9 per cent pay hike over three years.

Chair of the OPSEU bargaining team, Ted Montgomery
tells 570’s Gary Doyle Show the union is recommending its members vote no.
