Cambridge tries to get on board

Two local cities have earned the chance to be represented on a Canadian edition of a classic board game. Waterloo and Cambridge have both been voted onto a wildcard list of the Top 20 cities looking to earn a spot on a new Monopoly board.
Cambridge is the 20th city on that wildcard list and the city’s Director of Communication says that shows civic pride. Linda Fegan tells 570 News a city has to earn enough votes just to make the wildcard list. Now the goal is to get into the Top 10 so the city can move into the next round of the competition. Voting for wildcard cities continues until February 10th.
Fegan says Cambridge’s reputation for real estate makes it a perfect fit for the Monopoly board adding that the city thinks of itself as a “Boardwalk or a Park Place.” On a more serious note, Fegan says it’s a thrill just to be considered for a spot on a board game with a legacy like Monopoly’s.
