The 13th annual Don Cameron Potato Night was a resounding success at the Aud last night as Kitchener Ranger fans showed their generosity once again.
50 thousand pounds of potatoes was collected for the House of Friendship and their February Potato Blitz.
Cameron says it’s a great head start to the February Potato Blitz during which House of Friendship hopes to collect approximately 170-thousand pounds of potatoes.
Cameron also said that he was quite surprised by the generosity of the fans, especially considering the economy and other world issues of late, including the earthquake in Haiti.
Fans also donated four thousand dollars in cash.
As for the significant cash donation, thanks to Marhaven Farms in St. Jacobs it will be used to grow and sell potatoes to the House of Friendship at a fixed and very low price allowing them to get maximum value for the cash that was donated.
