Waterloo City Council closes in on a decision on whether or not to build a separate skateboard/BMX bike park in the city.
Staff will present a preferred site location to council on February 1st.
At a public meeting Thursday night residents had a chance to hear about the three options being considered.
They include a location at Waterloo Park, at the corner of Erb and Caroline or on Father David Bauer Drive near the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.
The Record reports many supporters are backing the one on Father David Bauer Drive because of its proximity to bus routes, public washrooms, food and shelter. At the same time some residents of the Luther Village senior’s complex are worried about noise coming from the park.
The estimated cost of the facility is around $400,000.
